Lost or stolen passports abroad

Missing your passport? You should report your passport lost or stolen immediately to protect yourself from identity theft. You can decide when to actually replace your missing passport but you should report is missing right away so it can be invalidated. You cannot undo the invalidation once it is reported lost, stolen, or missing. You will need to apply for a new passport.

Traveling soon and need to replace your missing passport? You can apply for a new passport as quickly as 24 hours if you have immediate travel needs.

Expedite through the post office

Applicants will pay an additional $60 government fee for processing their passport in a hurry through the post office. Processing times are 2-3 weeks.

Expedite through a private expediting service

Applicants will pay the additional $60 government fee plus the fee for the private expediting service. A Registered Passport Expediting Service can secure your passport as quickly as 24 hours. Their service is often convenient and very quick. You should be able to complete the entire process without leaving your zip code. Proof of travel is usually required within 14 days of your travel (or 30 days if a visa is needed).

Expedite through a Regional Passport Agency

Applicants will pay an additional $60 government fee for processing their passport in a hurry through the Regional Passport Agency. An appointment is required and proof of travel within 5 days is required.
